The adult leadership program was initiated to fill a need throughout the county to prepare individuals to serve in business and community leadership positions. The program consists of one day class each month from August through April.
Program Goals
• Develop a source of informed, civic-oriented leaders interested in the future of Clinton County
• Offer existing & emerging leaders an understanding of issues & opportunities facing Clinton County
• Improve the quality of life in Clinton County through community engagement
• Increase the quality & quantity of men & women accepting leadership roles in varied community & civic organizations
Benefits

• Discuss issues, opportunities, & potential solutions to local issues
• Enhance leadership & teambuilding skills
• Build working relationships & commitment to benefit Clinton County
Time Commitment
• Daylong leadership retreat in August/September
• 8 full-day class sessions from September through April
• Team project in addition to class sessions
• Community Project Report & graduation ceremony in April
Eligibility
Class members must reside and/or work in Clinton County & demonstrate:
• Sincere interest, motivation, & commitment to active involvement in community activities & issues
• Leadership qualities in business and/or community
• High quality standards & personal integrity
• Availability for interview

As a part of the class, students select and complete at least one community project. Throughout this process community and class members have forged new relationships and alliances that have been a benefit to them, their businesses, and the community.
The Leadership Clinton Youth Collaborative (LCYC) began as a 1995 LC class project to bring 4 sophomores or juniors from each of the school districts in Clinton County together to build leadership skills and instill a sense of community, service, and teamwork. Various topics that are covered in each of the monthly classes include: community history, economics, team building, community service, government, and health & human services offered in the county.

• 8 full school-day class sessions from September through April
• Graduation ceremony in April
Eligibility
• Must be actively enrolled in a Clinton County high school
• Must be a junior or senior level student (special consideration may be made for outstanding sophomores)
• Must show a sincere interest and commitment to the program
• Must exemplify leadership qualities
• Must be on track to graduate / not failing any course
